Chalk Talk Set for Oct. 21

WASHINGTON — The sixth annual American University men's basketball Chalk Talk event is scheduled for October 21 in Bender Arena.

The one-hour open practice from 11 am to noon will give Eagle fans an opportunity to watch the squad workout and also hear from head coach Mike Brennan. Fans will be able to interact with coach Brennan with a live Q&A session at the conclusion of the event.

"We love this opportunity for our fans to talk and interact with Coach Brennan," said David Bierwirth, Associate A.D. for External Operations. "This is the very first chance for our alumni, family and friends to see what this year's Eagles will be all about."

The Eagles are coming off a successful summer international trip to Australia. The team faced three professional teams in the Land of Oz and visited Cairns and Sydney. American welcomes seven freshmen to the roster along with junior transfers Cheikh 'CB' Diallo and Larry Motuzis. Sa'eed Nelson returns after a phenomenal rookie season in which he finished third in the NCAA in minutes played (1,135) and led the team in scoring (14.9 points per game). Mark Gasperini is also looking to continue where he left off a year ago. The center finished second in team scoring at 11.9 points per game.

All fans are invited to this free event.

The Eagles will open the 2017-18 season on the road at Kansas State on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m.
