WASHINGTON — After a great showing in the season opener against Maryland, American makes its first road trip to College Station to meet Texas A&M on Monday evening at Reed Arena.
American fell to No. 25 Maryland, 62-56, on Friday, but got great contributions from freshman Mark Gasperini and Sa'eed Nelson. The duo combined for 26 points and held their own playing against a top 25 squad.
Texas A&M easily beat Northwestern State on Friday, 72-44. Tyler Davis paced the Aggies with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tonny Torcha-Morelos had 10 points and four rebounds. The Aggies outrebounded the Demons, 46-29, which will be a tough task for American who got out glassed, 44-22, to the Terrapins.
Monday's game will be available digitally on mobile devices, tablets, PCs and connect-TVs for SEC Network subscribers whose cable/satellite packages allow access to SEC Network+ content through the WatchESPN app and SECSports.com.
Mike Brennan has faced the Aggies twice as an assistant coach. The first meeting came as a volunteer assistant at Columbia in 1995 with the Aggies capturing a 65-39 victory. During the second matchup which came in December of 2002, Brennan, then a member of John Thompson's Princeton staff, helped the Tigers defeat A&M 76-62. (courtesy of Texas A&M)
