The Patriot League honored a program record 11 AU men's basketball student-athletes on Monday, naming them to the conference Academic Honor Roll. American tied for the league-league in selections with Bucknell and were the only two teams with double-digit honorees and only to have more than four. The mark tops last season's record-setting number of 10.
All six graduating seniors made the list this year. Mike Bersch (3.89, Mathematics) made his fourth-straight honor roll while Daniel Fisher (3.93, International Studies) and Daniel Munoz (3.41, Finance) each earned the distinction for third time. Stephen Lumpkins (3.33, Business Administration) was named to the academic honor roll for the second time while Warren Flood, Jr. (3.73, Business Administration) and Blake Jolivette (3.44, Business Administration) made their first appearance on the annual list.
Fisher tied Lehigh's Stefan Cvrkalj for the highest GPA this season.
Jordan Borucki (3.20, Business Administration) made his third academic honor roll appearance while Tony Wroblicky (3.53, Business Administration), Zach Elcano (3.20, Business Administration), Jesse Reed (3.33, Business Administration) and Marko Vasic (3.29, Economics) all made the list for the first time.
American has led the conference in Academic Honor Roll selections in each of the last five years, with the programs total increasing each season. AU has produced 71 academic honorees since 2002, a Patriot League-leading mark.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
