Lumpkins Named to Men’s Basketball All-Patriot League Team; Schoof Earns All-Academic Team Honor

The Patriot League announced its season-ending men's basketball awards on Monday and American senior Stephen Lumpkins was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team while sophomore John Schoof garnered All-Academic Team honors.

Lumpkins led the Eagles this season with 14.3 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game and 30 blocks. The fourth-year forward ranks second in the Patriot League and 27th in the country in rebounding. Lumpkins became the 29th AU student-athlete to reach the 1,000-point plateau this season and became American's all-time leader in blocks with 137.

It is the second time in Lumpkins' career he has been named to the All-Patriot League Second Team, earning the honor in 2010-11 as a junior before taking last season off to pursue a professional baseball career.

Schoof, who boasts a 3.38 GPA in Business Administration in the Kogod School of Business, leads the Patriot League from beyond the arc this season with 2.4 3-pointers per game and a .511 3-point percentage, which ranks No. 1 in the country ( minimums). The second-year sharpshooter is third on the Eagles with 9.7 points per game and second with 2.5 assists per game.

Schoof was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on February 11, after posting 24 points including five 3-pointers in a, 70-55, win over Colgate.

The Eagles earned the No. 5 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will face No. 4 Army in West Point, on Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.

AU fans and alumni planning to attend the road game at Army are encouraged to reserve tickets in the American fan-seating block by calling the AU Athletics Tickets office. Eagles fans can call (202) 885-TIXX and may also email with contact info and a representative will return your call. All tickets in the AU fan section must be purchased by 4 p.m., tomorrow (Tuesday, March 5). Seating space is limited. Tickets prices, set by the Patriot League, are $12 for adults and $6 for youth and seniors.
