The No. 3 American University men's basketball team will host No. 6 Army on Wednesday, February 29 as they look to maintain their perfect record in Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from Bender Arena.
American closed out the regular season with a 76-69 victory over Lafayette on Saturday as First Team All-Patriot League selection Charles Hinkle led the way with a team-high 25 points and Troy Brewer tallied a team-high eight rebounds.
Hinkle earned his first All-Patriot League First Team honor on Monday after averaging 18.8 ppg and 5.4 rpg and tallying 14 20-point performances this season.
The Eagles earned the No. 3 seed after posting a 10-4 record in conference play and 19-10 record overall. This mark's the seventh time in the last 10 years that American has received a top-three seed in the tournament.
American owns a perfect 13-0 record when playing the Black Knights at home and completed the season sweep with a 74-50 victory in West Point, N.Y. on February 18. The Eagles have won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two teams and hold a 3-0 record when facing the Black Knights in the Patriot League Tournament.
Army is led by First Team All-Patriot League selection Ella Ellis who ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 17.7 ppg and an 83.2 percent free throw percentage. He also leads the Black Knights with 4.7 rpg. All-Rookie Team selection Maxwell Lenox ranks fourth in the conference with 1.2 spg.
