The American University men's basketball team will look for a
second straight win on Sunday, February 21, when it travels to
Worcester, Mass., to take on Holy Cross. Tipoff from the Hart
Center is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The Eagles won in the first
meeting between the teams this season, 71-64, marking the Eagles'
third straight win over Holy Cross. The Crusaders, however, hold a
15-8 advantage in the all-time series.
American snapped its three-game skid on Wednesday, defeating Army 57-54, at home in Bender Arena. The Eagles shot 45.5 percent for the agme against 41.2 percent from Army and held a 35-21 advantage on the glass over the Black Knights.
Four different Eagles reached double-digits in the victory, led by a game-high 18 points from junior Vlad Moldoveanu. Sophomore Stephen Lumpkins recorded his fifth double-double and second in as many games, scoring 11 points with 11 rebounds. Sophomore Joe Hill matched his career-best with 12 points on four three-pointers. Junior Nick Hendra netted 10 points while sophomore Simon McCormack dished out a career-high six assists to go along with six points.
Moldoveanu is averaging a team-high 19.8 ppg this season. He has led the team in scoring 13 times in 17 appearances and scored 20+ points eight times. Lumpkins is second on the team with 11.5 ppg and ranks second in the Patriot League with 8.1 rpg. Hendra is the team's third-leading scorer at 10.2 ppg and has dished out a team-high 2.8 apg.
