WASHINGTON - Alumni, coaches, donors, friends and parents of AU Wrestling gathered on Friday, Oct. 5 to celebrate the annual "Friends of AU Wrestling" Golf Outing at Montgomery Village Country Club in Gaithersburg, Md. Over 50 people gathered to support the current team and share memories of great moments in AU wrestling history.

"This year was one of the best attended wrestling outings ever," said David Bierwirth, Associate Athletics Director for Development. "It was great to once again bring together all AU Wrestling constituencies in support of our student-athletes."

Participants started the day with a light breakfast and complimentary golf lessons from John Shaffer, AU wrestling fan and PGA Professional, at the driving range. After an enjoyable 18 holes of best-ball scramble golf, golfers enjoyed a sit-down dinner and awards ceremony, sponsored by AU wresting alum Loren Danielson.

Following the dinner, Head Coach Mark Cody narrated a highlight video of the 2006-07 season climaxed by Josh Glenn's final match at the NCAA National Championships.
