WASHINGTON - Brendan Fennell, Steve Hallinan and Carlos Jamieson have each been named to the Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team, U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association officials announced Tuesday.

The trio earned the honors after leading American to its sixth-consecutive PL Cross Country Championship and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Both Fennell and Hallinan have been named to the All-Region team in each of their four years at AU, while this is Jamieson's first selection.

Fennell placed fifth this past weekend at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet, posting a 10k time of 30:25. At the PL Championships, Fennell brought home his second straight Most Outstanding Runner of the Meet award by blowing out his competitors by 21 seconds and completing the 8k course in a season best 25:00.00. Fennell earned First Team All-PL accolades with the win, was named the ECAC Div. I Runner of the Week and was also selected as the American University Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO. This season Fennell also competed in the Iona Meet of Champions were he placed 12th and the Navy Invite where he finished 14th.

Hallinan finished just behind Fennell at the regional meet, placing seventh with a time of 30:29. The 2005 PL Cross Country Individual Champion ran a 25:21.50 at this year's conference meet for second place and earned a spot on the All-PL First Team. Hallinan also placed second at the Meet of Champions after completing the course in a time of 25:03.00. His performance that weekend earned him recognition as the PL Male Runner of the Week, ECAC Div. I Athlete of the Week and American University Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO. In his only other meet this year, the Navy Invite, Hallinan placed fourth with a season best 8k time of 24:05.00.

Jamieson placed 18th at the Mid-Atlantic Regional with a time of 30:49.00. At the PL Championships he earned a spot on the All-PL Second Team by placing 12th in 26:31.00. Jamieson had competed in three events prior to the conference meet including a fifth place showing at the Lafayette Invitational, a 10th place finish at the Meet of Champions and a seventh-place finish at the Navy Invite. After leading the Eagles to a second-place finish at the Lafayette meet, Jamieson was named the PL Male Runner of the Week.

Both Fennell and Hallinan will compete next Monday, Nov. 19, at the NCAA Championships, which they qualified for with their performances at the regional meet. Fennell just missed the All-America cut at last year's championships with a 63rd place finish and has competed in the national meet the last three years. Hallinan has also run at the NCAA's in each of the previous three seasons.
