WASHINGTON - American University senior and 2007 Patriot League Cross Country Individual Champion Brendan Fennell picked up another honor this week, being named the East Coast Athletic Conference's Division I Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Wednesday.

Fennell capped off his senior cross country season Saturday by winning the PL's championship race and helping his team to its sixth-consecutive conference title. Fennell was named the Most Outstanding Runner of the Meet after beating his closest opponent by 21 seconds and completing the 8k course in 25:00.00. For Fennell, this was his second MOR award in as many years. As a junior he won the award when he beat out the rest of the field by nine seconds and posted a time of 25:20.8. The first-place finish also earned Fennell a spot on the First Team All-PL.

Fennell and his Eagle teammates will be back in action again next week on Nov. 10 in Bethlehem, Pa. for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Top finishers from the race will then advance to the NCAA Championships being held this year in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 19.
