Steve Hallinan Named the PL's Male Runner of the Week

Sept. 25, 2007

WASHINGTON - American University senior Steve Hallinan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) has been named the Patriot League's Male Runner of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. This is the second weekly award that the men's team has garnered this year.

Last weekend, at the Iona Meet of Champions, Hallinan finished second in a field of 205 competitors. His time of 25:03.00 was just three-tenths of a second slower than the meet's winner. Hallinan has competed in two of the Eagles' three meets this season and has been AU's top finisher in both. At the Navy Invitational, the senior placed fourth and ran the 12th fastest time in course history.

The former PL cross country champion has also helped his team to a 12th-place ranking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Cross Country Regional Rankings.

Hallinan will defend this award when he and the Eagles compete in the George Mason Invitational Friday, Sept. 28.
