AU's Brian McCabe named PL Male Runner of the Week

WASHINGTON - American University cross country runner Brian McCabe (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) was selected as the Patriot League Male Runner of the Week, conference officials announced Wednesday.

This past weekend, McCabe led the Eagles to a second place finish at the Mount St. Mary's Invite. The senior finished the 5K race in second place, with a time of 16:14.57. The 57 person field was comprised of runners from host Mount St. Mary's, Maryland, UMBC, George Washington and Loyola. AU earned a sound 4-1 record in the dual meet, falling only to the overall winner, Maryland.

McCabe and the Eagles return to action again Sept. 15, when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Invite.
