Two Eagles Race at NCAA Cross Country Championships

WASHINGTON - American University cross country runners Brendan Fennell and Steve Hallinan competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championships Monday held in Bloomington, Ind. Fennell finished 119th in the field of 250 and Hallinan finished 153rd.
Fennell and Hallinan were the only American representatives at the race. They qualified for the championship last weekend at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifier where Fennell placed fifth and Hallinan seventh.
Fennell ran the 10k course in a time of 31:18.4 while Hallinan finished in 31:34.0. The race's individual winner, Josh McDougal of Liberty, completed the race in a time of 29:22.4. Oregon took home the men's team championship with a total of 85 points and an average team time of 30:12.
