AU Cross Country and Track Alum Young Named Washington Post's High School Coach of the Year

April 23, 2008

WASHINGTON - American University cross country and track alum Chad Young was named the Washington Post's High School Girls Track Coach of the Year, the paper announced earlier this month. Young, now coaching at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, guided his team to the Maryland 3A Outdoor Track Championship led by a group of four distance runners who performed beyond expectations at the meet.

In a letter written to AU Head Cross Country and Track Coach Matt Centrowitz, Young gives credit to his former coach for helping shape his own coaching style now.

"You inspired me in many ways to be competitive and successful," Young writes. "I take a lot of what I learned from you and my experience running on the AU team and try to incorporate them into my own coaching of the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School track team."
