Steve Hallinan is in his fifth season on Coach Centrowitz's staff and third as an assistant coach after a stellar four-year career as an Eagle.

His freshman year at American was one of the finest freshman seasons in school history, as he the fastest outdoor 5000 meter by any freshman since Coach Centrowitz took over the program. In 2005 he led his team to a second straight NCAA Cross Country Championship appearance and was named both the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Runner of the Meet. In the spring of 2006 Hallinan won the 5000 meter run at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships and finished second in the1500 meter with the fifth-fastest time in school history, qualifying him for the NCAA East Regionals. Hallinan graduated as a 10-time All-Patriot League selection, was named the 2004 Patriot League Cross Country Rookie of the Year and appears on American’s all-time top 10 list 17 times.

Hallinan graduated from American in 2008 from the Kogod School of Business.
