WASHINGTON - The American University track & field team is back in action this weekend as the Eagles travel to Baltimore, Md., for the 15th Annual Morgan State Legacy Meet on Saturday, April 20.
- The Eagles picked up eight personal records (PR's) during last weekend's George Mason Spring Invitational, including yet another career-best for Liam Purdy in the men's 800-meter run. Purdy entered the weekend ranked second in the program record books for the event alongside Sean Duffy with his previous PR of 1:50.28. He left the meet with ownership of the No. 2 spot outright after becoming the first Eagle since 2007 to break 1:50 in the 800m, running 1:49.95 to land just over three seconds off of Dustin Emrani's school record (1:46.92).
- Although Purdy will not be featured in any of the individual events this weekend, four of the other PR performers from Saturday will take the line, starting with Kassidy Ayres in the women's 800m run. Ayres timed through with a new outdoor PR of 4:50.63 in the 1500m run at Mason and will bump up this weekend to the 800m along with Arianna Lopez and Elise Hooker, who also earned a career-best in the 1500m last weekend.
- On the men's side, John Pagliaro will return to the 1500m after his PR run at Mason (4:06.35).
- The threesome of Katelyn Deibler, Clare Hernandez, and Shelbi Wuss will be featured in the women's field. Deibler earned one of the biggest PR's of the season for the women's team two weeks ago with her 18:49.03 crossing in the 5000m.
