Track & Field Closes 2017 Season at Swarthmore

WASHINGTON - The American University Track & Field team closed out its 2017 outdoor schedule on Monday, May 15, as five Eagles traveled to Swarthmore, Pa., for the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.

Junior Alaeldin Tirba and freshman Gerard D'Ambrosio both closed their seasons with personal records (PRs) in the 1500m run.  Tirba led the Eagles in the event with an 18th-place overall finish, crossing with a new personal best of 3:50.03, putting him just outside of the AU All-Time Top Ten.  Sophomore Ben Doiron was next with a 25th-place finish, landing a mere 0.53-seconds off of his PR in 3:52.87, followed by D'Ambrosio with a new PR of 3:59.61.

Junior Liam Purdy was the sole Eagle in the 800m run, crossing in 16th with a final time of 1:53.49.

Junior Jude Mabone was the sole representative for the AU women, coming in 28th overall for the 1500m with a season's best 4:50.55.
