Eagles Travel This Weekend to Patriot League Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – On any collegiate track and field schedule, the conference meet is always circled. For most members of the team, the training plan is designed to be ready at the right time for that big weekend.

It's no different for the American University track and field team, which travels this weekend to Bucknell for the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Action begins Friday morning at 9 a.m. with the 10,000-meter runs, while Saturday's start time in the field events is 11:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday.
American has had a strong outdoor season thus far, with the men having posted 10 marks that would qualify for the IC4A Outdoor Championships.
Junior Brendan Johnson has IC4A marks in three different events – the 1,500, the 5,000 and 10,000. His time of 29:41.51 in the men's 10,000 is the fastest mark of the season in the Patriot League, while he ranks third in the 5,000.
The men's 1,500 has been a particularly strong event for the Eagles this spring. Five different Eagles – Johnson, Alaeldin Tirba, Ben Doiron, Matthew Rainey and Jim Belfatto – have hit the IC4A standard so far in that event.
On the women's side, sophomore Brianna Belo is among the PL's top-10 thus far in two events. She's seeded seventh in the 800 and 10th in the 400-meter dash.
Senior Kelseagh Budris has the sixth-fastest mark in the league in the 1,500, while freshman Adriana Hooks is seeded seventh in the 5,000.
