BALTIMORE, Md. – Corina Velazco placed fourth in the women's 1,500-meter run to highlight American University performances Saturday at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
Velazco ran 4:38.17 to post the Eagles' fastest time of the year in that event and to move into 10th on AU's all-time top-10 outdoors in the 1,500.
Also for AU, freshman Brianna Belo trimmed some time off her own school record in the women's 400-. She ran 57.52 to cut 0.07 seconds off her previous best. She earned 13th in the event.
American had two top-10 finishes on the men's side in the meet.
Cody Hodgins ran 4:06.55 to place seventh in the 1,500 and post a personal season-best. Alaeldin Tirba was ninth in the men's 800 in 1:54.61, the best mark of the season by an Eagle in that event.
American tied for 17th in the women's team standings and was 21st for the men.
AU is scheduled to compete next weekend in the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
The Eagles are also pointing toward the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, to be hosted by Army West Point on May 1 and 2.
