LANDOVER, Md. – American University's track teams will continue their progress through the indoor season on Saturday when they compete at the Terrapin Indoor Invitational at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.
Running events begin at 9 a.m. with the 5,000-meter runs, with track events scheduled to end around 4:30 p.m.
The Eagles will try to continue their momentum from last week's meets which saw two women's school records fall.
Junior transfer Kinnari Badger posted a record mark (26.86) in the 200-meter dash, while freshman Brianna Belo topped the all-time charts in the 400 (1:00.22). Each is scheduled to compete in those events again Saturday.
The women's entry list also includes Corina Velazco in the mile, as the AU sophomore will try to improve her mark of 5:12.75, which currently ranks fifth in the Patriot League.
On the men's side, American will continue to strategically place entries in the mile and 3,000 meters.
Sophomore Brendan Johnson finished less than a second behind the IC4A-qualifying mark in the 3,000 last week at Navy (8:25.45), but will get some shorter-distance work at the Terrapin Indoor while competing in the mile.
Johnson ranks among the top 30 in the nation so far in the 3,000 and is fourth on the Patriot League list in that event. Josh Ellis, who is fifth in the PL in the 3K at 8:29.24, will also compete in the mile on Saturday.
Cross country standouts Nick Regan, Peter Rowe and Tom Woermer are scheduled to run the 3,000 for the Eagles on Saturday, while freshman Terrell Green (7th in the PL at 1:58.15) leads AU's entries in the 800.
