Track to Compete at 120th Penn Relays

Five student-athletes from the American University men's and women's outdoor track teams will head to Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend for the 120th Penn Relays, competing on Thursday, Apr. 24 and Saturday, Apr. 26.

Brendan Johnson will compete in the men's 5,000 meter run on Thursday night while Kelseagh BudrisCorina VelazcoJulia Sullivan and Ali Tyburski will run the women's 4x800 meter relay Saturday afternoon.

Johnson is coming off his first individual title of the outdoor season after winning the 5,000 at the Morgan State Legacy Meet in Baltimore last weekend. He also recorded a fifth place finish in the men's 3,000 at the Maryland Invitational earlier this season.

Tyburski, Sullivan and Velazco finished finished seventh, eight and ninth in the 800 meter run, respectively, at the Maryland Invitational. At the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. on Apr. 5, Budris placed 10th in the 800 meter run while the four runners finished third while competing in the 4x1500 meter relay.

The events will take place at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field. More than 22,000 athletes from around the world will compete in the event. For more information on how to follow the Eagles throughout the event, click here.
