Joshua Ellis led the American University track team with a third place result in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Saturday at the Mason Spring Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
Ellis finished in 9:20.77, just shy of his personal mark. Nick Regan also registered a top 10 finish at the event, placing ninth in the 5,000 meter race in 15:03.00. Ian Lutz ran a 15:35.57 in the 5,000 to finish 19th. In the 1,500 meter run, Peter Rowe placed 39th in 3:58.53 and John Pope posted a time of 3:58.84 to place 41st.
Cassidy Hart was the highest finisher for the women's team, placing 18th in the 5,000 with a time of 18:25.98. Julia Sullivan placed 24th and Corina Velazco finished 34th with times of 4:42.05 and 4:46.36, respectively, in the 1,500 run.
American's men's team finished 17th overall while UMBC took home the team title. Columbia won the event on the women's side.
The Eagles will return to the track on Saturday, Apr. 19 when they head to Baltimore, Md. for the Morgan State Legacy Meet.
