Regan Wins 1,500 to Lead Track at Navy Spring Invitational

Nick Regan took home his first outdoor title of the 2014 season, winning the 1,500 meter run to lead the American University men's and women's outdoor track teams at the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday.

The junior was the top finisher for the Eagles, achieving a personal-best time of 3:56.92 in the event. Peter Rowe placed fourth in the event with a mark of 3:59.99.

Thomas Woermer and Constantine Matsakis rounded out the top-five finishers for American. Woermer placed fourth in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:36.00 and Matsakis finished fifth in the 800 meter run in 1:57.95.

The women's team was led by Krystal Foster who finished third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:06.25. Corina Velazco placed fifth in the 1,500 meter race, finishing 4:44.55.

The men's team finished fourth in the team standings while the women's squad finished fifth overall. Navy took home both the men's and women's titles.

The Eagles compete at the Maryland Invitational next on Saturday, Mar. 29 in College Park, Md.
