Indoor Track Posts Four Top-Five Finishes at Patriot Games


The American University men's and women's indoor track teams registered four top-five finishers on Saturday at the George Mason Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va. 

Julia Sullivan led the Eagles with a runner-up result in the 1,000 meter run with a personal best mark of 2:57.42. The time was also the fifth fastest in program history. Corina Velazco finished eighth in the 3,000 meter run in 10:26.17, which was the 10th fastest mark in the indoor record books.

The women's 4x800 meter relay team also posted the fifth fastest mark at American. The team of Kelseagh Budris, Velazco, Anike Oladeji and Sullivan finished in 9:30.84 to place third.

Nick Regan led the men's team with another top-five result as the junior placed fourth in the mile. Regan posted a time of 4:16.54 and was followed by Constantine Matsakis in seventh (4:18.07).

Peter Rowe earned a fifth place finish 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:30.94 and Liam May ran a personal best 2:00.03 in the 800 meter run to place ninth.

The Eagles will head to New York next for the 2014 New Balance Collegiate Invitational on February 7 and 8.
