Octavia Rinehardt captured the 1500 meter run to lead the American University track and field team on Saturday at the Morgan State Legacy Meet in Baltimore, Md.
Rinehardt's victory in the 1500, which came in 4:44.65, placed her more than two full seconds ahead of the race's second-place finisher, Delaware State's Ashley Robinson. In the preliminaries, Rinehardt ran a 4:38.00, eight seconds better than any of the race's 36 total runners.
Other top-five finishers on the day for American were Mark Allen, John Pope and Zach Wright. Allen came in third place in the men's 1500 in a personal best 3:57.35 with Pope picking up fifth place in the event in 4:00.97 while Wright earned a fifth-place result in the high jump with a 1.98 meter effort.
The Eagles will be back in action April 26-28 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
