The American University track and field teams will travel to nearby College Park, Md. for the University of Maryland Invitational this Saturday, March 31.
The Eagles will enter the meet after tallying 10 top-10 finishes at the Navy Invitational last Saturday, led by third place finishes from Josh Olsen and Ali Tyburski in the 1,500 meter run and a second place finish from Zach Wright in the high jump. The men's team recorded a fourth place finish at the event while the women's team finished seventh.
Olsen and Octavia Rinehardt tallied the best finishes of American's returning competitors at last season's event. Olsen finished second in the 1,500 meter run last year in a time of 3:55.83 while Rinehardt also placed second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:41.61. Wright recorded a second place finish in the high jump.
Other teams competing at Saturday's Maryland Invitational include Catholic, UDC, George Washington, Georgetown, Howard Community College, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Navy, Temple, UMBC and York College (Pa.). Both the running and field events will begin at 10 a.m.
