Tyburski, Wright Lead Track and Field Teams at Navy Invitational

The American University men's and women's track and field teams combined to record 10 top-10 finishes at the Navy Invitational on Saturday.

American earned its first two top-10 finishers in the men's 800 meter run as Mark Allen and Constantine Matsakis placed seventh (1:58.70) and eighth (1:59.18), respectively.

Josh Olsen earned the highest finish for the Eagles' runners with a third place finish and personal best time of 3:54.16 in the 1,500 meter run followed by Ryan Williams who took fourth in 3:54.92, John Pope fifth in 3:58.24 and Tom Woermer 10th in 4:06.94. American closed out the running events with a fifth place finish by Allen in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 15:05.44.

Zach Wright was the lone field competitor for the Eagles and finished second in the high jump with a final height of 1.99 meters.

Ali Tyburski recorded the highest finish for the women's track and field teams with a third place finish in the 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:44.88. Octavia Rinehardt posted an eighth place finish in the event with a time of 4:51.81.

Alexa Bolden recorded a program record for the Eagles in the long jump with a final jump of 4.73 meters to place 13th in the event. Olivia Pennock earned the 10th fastest time all-time at American in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.38, finishing 14th.

The men's team finished fourth in the team standings with 34 total points on the day. The women's team placed seventh with seven points. Navy won both the men's and women's team titles.
