Koch will be making her first appearance at the meet and has qualified in the 1,500 meter run. The 2011 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year owns a season best time of 4:22.56 in the event, a mark which broke the school record at the 53rd Annual Mt. SAC Relays on April 14. She has also posted the second fastest time in program history in the 400 meter dash, 800 meter run and 3,000 meter run this year, after breaking the school record in the indoor mile at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Koch will run in the second heat of the 1,500 meter first round on Thursday, May 26 at 4:30 p.m. The top five finishers in each heat plus the next four top finishers will advance the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. The top five finishers in each heat plus the next two top finishers from the semis will then advance to the NCAA Championships being held May 26-28 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rinehardt will be making her second appearance at the east regional in the 5,000 meter run. Rinehardt qualified with a personal best time of 16:34.26 set at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Games, ranking her third on the school's all-time top 10 list. She won the 5,000 meter title at the 2011 Patriot League Outdoor Championships earlier this month and has captured a total of three individual conference championships this year after claiming the 3,000 and 5,000 meter crowns during the indoor season. Rinehardt also competed in the 5,000 at the east regional as a freshman in 2009, placing 34th with a time of 17:14.44.
Rinehardt will compete in the second heat of the 5,000 meter semifinals on Saturday at 8:05 p.m. The top five finishers in each heat plus the next two top finishers from the semis will advance to the NCAA Championships.
