Koch Sets School Record at Colonial Relays

Erin Koch set a new school record in the 1,500 meter run as the American University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Colonial Relays over the weekend.

Koch placed second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:24.04, besting the previous school record of 4:25.21 set by Keira Carlstrom '06 in 2004. Her time also eclipsed the ECAC qualifying standard in the event and is her first school record in outdoor track. Koch is currently the school record holder in the indoor mile, posting a time of 4:46.19 earlier this year at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The men's 4x1,500 meter relay team of Craig Brown, Conor Sullivan, Jeff Brannigan and Colin Eustis strode to a first-place finish, stopping the clock in 15:41.99. Brannigan, meanwhile, also placed fifth in the men's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:24.04, the 10th fastest in school history.

The Eagles will return to action Saturday, April 9 at the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md.
