Brannigan, Lyons and Sullivan Lead Men's Track to Second Place Finish at Delaware Invite

Jeff Brannigan, Alex Lyons and Conor Sullivan each posted victories to help the American University men's track team to a second-place finish at the Delaware Invitational on Friday.

Brannigan led the Eagles to a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 meter run, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:31.24. He was followed by Craig Brown in second place with a time of 2:32.07 while James Cannon finished third in 2:34.20. Colin Eustis took fifth in the event with a time of 2:34.40.

American finished 1-2 in the 800 meter run as Sullivan posted a winning time of 1:58.27 and Chris Tonn took second in 1:58.40. Josh Einbinder and Zach Weinstein also scored in the event for the Eagles, placing fourth in 2:01.78 and eighth in 2:05.99, respectively.

Lyons won the mile run in 4:21.94, ahead of teammate Ryan Williams who placed second in 4:25.74. Garrett Martucci took fifth in 4:27.80 while Mark Leinenger placed sixth in 4:28.49 and Mark Allen seventh in 4:36.18.

Zach Wright, who set a school record in the high jump at the Navy Invite earlier this season, won the high jump competition with a final jump of 1.95 meters.

The Eagles finished second in the team standings with a total of 103 points. La Salle won the team competition while St. Joseph's (Pa.) took third and Delaware State fourth.

The men's and women's track teams will be in action again on Saturday, January 16, at the Maryland Invitation in Landover, Md.
