AU Swimming and Diving Defeat Howard

WASHINGTON - The American University men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up a victory Friday night over local foe Howard. The men's team won their side of the competition, 108-89, while the women's team won 119-80.
Joe Coronato and Matt Pelletier each picked up a par of victories for AU. Coronato won both the 200 and 100 free while Pelletier took first in the 50 free and 100 back. Dan Nagelberg also had a strong showing for American. Nagelberg won the 1000 free and placed second in both the 200 IM and 500 free.
Meghan Thiel and Dorothy Isaacs picked up two wins on the women's side. Thiel took first place in the 200 and 500 free and Isaacs won the 200 IM and 100 breast. Three other women earned individual victories for AU Friday. Gabriela Feibel won the 1000 free, Mary-Margaret Lopez won the 100 fly and Jessica Balance won the 100 back.
The Eagles will return to the pool later this month, Dec. 29, when they embark on a journey to Spain for the XV Ciudad de San Sebastian.
