WASHINGTON - American University senior swimmers Meghan Thiel and Joe Coronato completed Day Two of the East Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool. Both Thiel and Coronato scored in the 200 free, taking third and ninth place, respectively.

Yesterday, Thiel captured the first ECAC Championship of her career, winning the women's 500 free by a comfortable four-plus second margin with in 4:53.07.
Coronato finished ninth in the men's 200 free prelim to advance to Saturday evening's "B" final. Coronato finished first in the "B" final with a time of 1:41.49 to place ninth overall. That time, had Coronato made the cut for the "A" final, would have tied him for first overall in the event with Thomas Gray of Harvard.
After two days of competition at the ECAC Championships, the women's team is in 16th place out of 25 teams with 36 points while the men's team is in 20th place of 25 teams with 23 points. Both Thiel and Coronato are the only members of either Eagles swimming and diving team who are competing at the ECAC's this weekend.
The ECAC Championships will conclude tomorrow, March 2, at Trees Pool. Thiel will wrap up her illustrious career for AU in the 1650 free while Coronato's last event as an Eagle will be the 100 free. For live results throughout the day, click here
