Three AU Podium Finishes Highlight Second Day of PL Swimming and Diving Championships

WASHINGTON - Kaitlin Moughty and Meghan Thiel broke school records to finish second in the 400 IM and 200 free and Matt Bank took third in the men's 100 fly on day two of the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships. The men's team is sixth and the women's team is seventh with one day remaining.
The women's team was led by second-places from Moughty and Thiel. Moughty broke the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.26, a personal best by more than four seconds, to finish second. It was her second second-place finish of the meet. Thiel was unable to defend her 200 free title, taking second in a new personal best and school record of 1:50.81. She still has the 1650 free due up tomorrow. In the 100 breast junior Erin Devlin was fourth in a season-best 1:07.16. Sophomore Julia Anstadt was 16th overall in the same race with a time of 1:08.65. The women's 800 free of Thiel, Moughty, Gabi Feibel and Molly Bohmer placed fourth in 7:41.01.
Bank led the men's team with a third-place finish in the 100 fly. Bank set a personal best and swam the sevent-fastest time in school history with a 50.18. Freshman Mike Toran continued his strong meet with a personal best in the 400 IM with a time of 4:07.12. Junior co-captain Dan Nagelberg was two places back from Toran in 4:12.01. In the 100 back, freshman Matt Pelletier was 11th in a time of 53.32.In addition, captain Joe Coronato finished 16th in the 200 free in 1:45.08.
The teams return to the pool tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. for the final day of competition.
