WASHINGTON, D.C. – Anna Derrow picked up American's lone individual victory of the day by winning the 3-meter diving competition Saturday as the Eagles celebrated Senior Day by hosting Georgetown and George Washington in a swimming and diving meet at the Reeves Aquatic Complex.
American fell to Georgetown 175-64 and to GW 158-82 on the women's side, falling to 4-6 in dual meets this year. On the men's side, the Eagles lost 181-57 to Georgetown and 192-44 to the Colonials, dropping to 2-8.
Derrow, an Eagle freshman, scored 268.50 on the high board, improving her previous collegiate best by nearly 14 points. She moved from fifth to fourth on AU's all-time list in the event.
Senior Fiona Caulfield scored a season-best 248.35 to place third on the 1-meter board, missing a career-best by less than a point.
Junior Scott Callander had the men's best individual finish, placing second in the 100 fly (50.68). Callander also finished fourth in the 50 free at 21.56.
Garrett Sooter was third in the 1,000 free, with Liam Riebling earning third in the 500 free. Connor Chidsey scored 160.40 in the 3-meter diving competition, improving his season-best by nearly 18 points and moving into 15th all-time at AU.
American travels to George Mason next Saturday for a quadrangular with the Patriots, Army West Point and Boston University.
The Eagles, coming off an intense week of off-campus training in Sarasota, Fla., is in preparation for the 2018 Patriot League Championships to be held Feb. 14 to 17 at Navy.
