BALTIMORE – Garrett Sooter and Scott Callander each won two individual events for American, but Loyola Maryland was able to sweep a swimming and diving dual meet on Friday in a matchup of Patriot League opponents.
For the women, senior Caylee Watson won the 100-yard backstroke and had a second in the 200 back. The AU women lost 198-87 to the Greyhounds, while Loyola got a 164-109 win on the men's side.
Sooter went 10:01.58 to win the 1,000 freestyle by 11 seconds and later returned to go 4:54.45 to win the 500 free. Callander's double came in the butterfly events, going 52.58 in the 100 fly and 1:57.32 in the 200 to win both races.
Watson won her specialty with a mark of 59.01 and picked up a second in the 200 back (2:10.08). Tori Haviland picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:57.86) and 500 free (5:16.10).
American will be off until Friday, Oct. 28 when it hosts Howard on Senior Day at the Reeves Aquatic Center.
