WASHINGTON – American University swimming & diving standout Melissa Parker added to her numerous accolades collected as an Eagle, earning GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week recognition on Monday.
The fourth-year diver led the Eagles in a quad meet at Army on Saturday, facing off against fellow Patriot League foe Boston U., as well as regional opponent George Mason.
Parker won on the three-meter board while also placing third at one-meter. Parker scored a 233.85 on the high board, winning by the incredibly small margin of 0.25. She added a score of 208.90 on the low plank.
Her mark at three meters would rank sixth all-time at AU, but Parker owns the second-highest score in school history at 274.80, set last season. Her score on the low board would crack the top eight at AU, but she set the fourth-best mark at 248.30, also in 2014.
Parker is a two-time Academic All-Patriot League team honoree, was a second team All-Patriot League selection as a sophomore and earned ECAC Female Diver of the Meet honors as a freshman.
American has one more regular season meet, competing at the Bucknell Bison Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31, before the Patriot League Championships on Feb. 18-21, also at Bucknell.
