West Point, N.Y. – The American University swimming & diving teams competed in their second-to-last event before the Patriot League Championships on Saturday at Army. The Eagles faced off against two conference foes in the Black Knights and Boston U., in addition to regional rival George Mason in the quad meet.
Though the Eagles fell in each of their head-to-head matchups with the three schools, several AU swimmers and divers posted top marks in the pool and on the boards.
Senior diver Melissa Parker, who was victorious on the three-meter board, led way for American. Parker scored a 233.85 on for AU, winning by the incredibly small margin of 0.25.
The Eagles also got a third-place finish on the one-meter board by Parker. The senior's impressive dives earned a score of 208.90.
Sophomore Caylee Waston had one of the better performances of the day in the lanes for the Eagles with a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly, completing the race in 58.90.
Watson also posted a sub-minute time in the 100-yard backstroke. Wastson touched the wall at 59.68, while teammate Julianna Cavano was just behind at 1:00.16. The duo finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Sophomore Kilian Korth continued his strong campaign in his second season with the Eagles, placing seventh overall in the men's 100 back with a time of 53.24. Korth also finished eighth in the 200 back at 1:57.61 and helped AU to sixth in the 400 free relay along with Owen Dougherty, Tomas Kloosterman and Ryan Saunders at 3:19.76.
AU wraps up the regular season at the Bucknell Bison Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31.
