WASHINGTON – The American University swimming & diving teams head north this weekend to take on two Patriot League foes and as well as regional opponent in a quad meet at West Point, N.Y. The Eagles take on Army and Boston U., along with George Mason on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
It is the second meet of the New Year for American and just the second before the Patriot League Championships in mid-February.
The Eagles are coming off a dual against Washington-rival Georgetown. Though both the men & women were edged in team competition, several swimmers & divers posted winning marks.
Senior Charlie Taffet, who represented AU in Spain over the Christmas break, won the 200 breaststroke against the Hoyas and continues to lead the men's side.
Rookie diver Fiona Caulfield won the 3-meter event and set an all-time top-10 record for the Eagles, scoring a 236.7, good for sixth in program history at American.
The day of competition begins with first dives at 10 a.m., followed by a senior day ceremony for the Black Knights at 11:45 a.m. The 1650 free and second dives start at noon, before the swimming events continue at 1:30 p.m.
AU wraps up regular season meets at the Bucknell Bison Invitational on Saturday, January 31.
