Eagles Dive Into First Action of 2015

WASHINGTON – The American University swimming & diving teams compete against local rival Georgetown in first the competition of the New Year on Friday. The Hoyas host swimming events at McCarthy Pool while the Eagles welcome the divers to the Reeves Aquatic Center. All action begins at 5 p.m.

AU and GU have faced off once already this season, matching up at the Potomac Relays, which were held at American University back in October.

It will be the Eagles' first team action since the ECAC Winter Championships on Long Island, N.Y. on January 7.

Senior Charlie Taffet and sophomore Caylee Watson also represented AU in Spain just after Christmas at the 32nd annual Ciudad de San Sebastian. The two American swimmers posted strong marks and have already registering some of AU's top performances this year. Both Taffet and Watson have set all-time top-10 marks at AU and have posted season-best times for the Eagles as well.

Swimming events at Georgetown: 400 Medley Relay, 1000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 200 IM, 200 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke and 200 Freestyle Relay.

Diving at American begins with the one-meter dives followed by the three-meter board.

Next up for AU is a quad-meet at Patriot League foe Army. Fellow conference opponent Boston U. along with local rival George Mason will also make the trip up to West Point, N.Y. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
