Swimming & Diving Defeats VMI

WASHINGTON – Competing for the second time in two days at home, the American University swimming & diving teams continued their strong performances against VMI. The Eagle men and women were both victorious, winning 136-76 and 142-67, respectively.

American won 21 events on Saturday afternoon at the Reeves Aquatic center.

The wins started off with rookie Shannon Exley who posted a 54.43 in the 100 freestyle. She followed it up with a second victoryin the  200 free, hitting the wall at 1:58.98.

Sophomore Alexis Danchak also had two wins on the afternoon, taking the 500 free with a time of 5:22.04 and the 200 individual medley at 2:14.57.

Rookie Tomas Kloostermann was a double-winner on the men's side, taking the 200 free at 1:48.25 and the 500 free with a time of 4:52.58.

Seniors Harrison Volaski and Kegan Gerard also picked up dual victories. Volaski took the 200 backstroke (1:58.45) and 200 IM (2:01.19) while Gerard won both diving events.

The Eagles return to the pool on November 8 at Bucknell where they will also take on Patriot League foes Lafayette and Navy.
