Matt Bean and Kyanna Alleyne selected as SASP Scholar-Athletes of the Month for April

WASHINGTON - Sophomore Kyanna Alleyne (women's soccer) and freshman Matt Bean (men's swimming & diving) have been selected as the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for April, the SASP staff announced on Friday.

The monthly honor recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who is committed to academic success, has shown a dedication to academic improvement and growth, and/or is making a positive impact on the student-athlete community through the Life Skills program.

“Kyanna started her AU career strong and she has continued to improve her academics, even as she navigates the early stages of her Biology major. Not only has she handled the challenges of some of her difficult classes this year, but she regularly supports her team and does her part to help her teammates find success as well. She is an extremely hard worker and has truly earned being named the Scholar-Athlete of the Month.” -Spencer Bonahoom, Academic & Life Skills Counselor

Matt Bean, Freshman

“Throughout this entire year, Matt has had a consistent approach towards his academics that are paying off in the classroom. Not only have I noticed this in our conversations, but others across campus have noticed as well and have shared how Matt’s kind and professional demeanor were the highlights of their day. Matt has truly found the way to balance his academics and his athletics in a way that has led him to be successful in the classroom and in the pool. His focus is unmatched, and I am excited to see where this takes him in the future!” - Erin Saunders, Academic Support Counselor for Student-Athletes
