WASHINGTON - Senior Leah Brennan (lacrosse) and senior Jeric Kasunic (wrestling) have been selected as the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for March, the SASP staff announced on Wednesday.
The monthly honor recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who is committed to academic success, has shown a dedication to academic improvement and growth, and/or is making a positive impact on the student-athlete community through the Life Skills program.
Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Leah Brennan, Senior
B.S., Health Promotion
“Leah has truly earned the title of March Scholar-Athlete of the Month. Her dedication and determination to succeed in the classroom and on the field is present in everything she does. It is incredibly exciting to see how well Leah is performing in her final undergraduate and first graduate level classes. I am so proud of Leah in all she has accomplished and overcome in her time here at AU, and I can’t wait to see what she will accomplish next!” – Erin Saunders, Academic Support Counselor for Student-Athletes
Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Jeric Kasunic, Senior
B.S., Business Administration
“As a senior, Jeric has shown a pattern of increased success in the classroom over each of his four years at AU. Jeric sets a great example for his teammates in many ways. He makes no excuses and is a hard worker in his academic efforts. As a back-to-back NCAA qualifier, it is clear that work ethic shows up on the wrestling mat as well. Jeric is well-deserving of being March’s Scholar-Athlete of the Month!” - Spencer Bonahoom, Academic and Life Skills Counselor
