WASHINGTON - Sophomore Morgan Lang (women's soccer) and sophomore Justin Perez (men's basketball) have been selected as the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for November, the SASP staff announced on Monday.
The monthly honor recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who is committed to academic success, has shown a dedication to academic improvement and growth, and/or is making a positive impact on the student-athlete community through the Life Skills program.
Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Morgan Lang, Sophomore
“There is no doubt that Morgan is an exceptional student; her results speak for themselves. However, she deserves this recognition because she goes above and beyond as a student and a teammate. She is a hard worker, and she is always willing to give her own time and effort help others improve in the classroom. Morgan is a great example of what it means to be a scholar-athlete!” - Spencer Bonahoom, Academic and Life Skills Counselor
Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Justin Perez, sophomore
“Justin is an extraordinary scholar-athlete! Behind his quiet demeanor is a dedicated student who has a clear vision and dream for his future. Justin is a hard worker, passionate about his studies in psychology and role as a basketball player. He is a positive light on AU’s campus and makes a difference in his community! Justin will do great things in his time here at American University and continues to be an example to those around him.” – Ashley Rozendaal, Program Director
