WASHINGTON - The American University Student-Athlete Support Program is proud to introduce its new Scholar-Athlete of the Month initiative. The award celebrates one male and one female student-athlete who is committed to academic success, has shown a dedication to academic improvement and growth, and/or is making a positive impact on the student-athlete community through the Life Skills program.
Seniors Jack Mutchnik (wrestling) and Asha Henley (women's basketball) were selected by the first pair of honorees by the SASP staff on Thursday, Oct. 5.

As he enters his senior year, he has shown great discipline to balance his studies in the Kogod School of Business and competing with the men’s wrestling team. In addition, he has done a tremendous job serving in the AU Athlete Mentor Program as a mentor, leading by both word and example as he helps guide new student-athletes in their transition to AU.” – Spencer Bonahoom
