Marilyn Meltzer Wrestling Room

Marilyn Meltzer Wrestling Room

The Marilyn Meltzer Wrestling Room was dedicated in 1998 when the Jacobs Fitness Center opened. Named after the mother of former AU wrestler Alan Meltzer, the room is home to the American wrestling squad as well as the office of head coach Teague Moore and his staff. The room is also a certified USA Wrestling training site.

In a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 17, 2015, head coach Teague Moore and director of athletics and recreation Dr. Billy Walker joined some prominent alumni and donors who made possible the renovation of the Marilyn Meltzer Wrestling Room.

Steve Pann, a former AU wrestler, was the lead donor on the project, which also included support from a number of alumni. Noted in the room is a display of Great Americans, including Pann, Loren Danielson, Alan Meltzer and coaches Bob Karch and Mark Cody, each of whom contributed to the success and history of the AU Wrestling Program.

New lighting, new paint and a room full of graphics will give current student-athletes and recruits a sense of those who have toiled before on their way to conference championships, All-America status and in one case, an NCAA National Champion.

Renovations continued in the summer of 2016 when a new mat was installed in the wrestling room.
